SAMS mediators helped settle a contract dispute between the Michigan Nurses Association – University of Michigan Professional Nurse Council (MNA-UMPNC) and the University of Michigan. After six months of negotiations without resolution, the parties asked SAMS to step in to help break their impasse. Within days, SAMS arbitrator Barry J. Peek traveled to Ann Arbor for three days of in-person meetings during which substantial progress was achieved. SAMS then conducted three virtual mediation sessions, resulting in the parties reaching a five-year Agreement. The Employer approved this Agreement, and the Union membership overwhelmingly ratified it.
