Clare Rose, a major Long Island beer and wine distributor, and the Teamsters union representing its workers reached a tentative contract deal, bringing an end to a strike that had lasted several weeks.
The agreement came after mediation sessions helped the two sides bridge their differences over wages, benefits, and working conditions. With the tentative deal in place, striking workers were expected to return to work pending ratification of the contract by union members.
The strike had disrupted distribution of beer, wine, and beverages across Long Island, affecting retailers, restaurants, and bars. Union officials and company representatives credited the mediation process with helping them find common ground.
